Simmered Chinese Chicken
INGREDIENTS
- 1 whole chicken, cut up
- 1 Tbsp oil
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 garlic clove, pressed
DIRECTIONS
- Brown chicken pieces in oil, 5 minutes on each side, in Dutch oven.
- Mix together remaining ingredients and pour over chicken.
- Bring to a boil and simmer, covered, about 45 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink. Remove chicken and set aside.
- Mix together 2 Tbsp corn starch in 1 Tbsp cold water and pour into liquid.
- Stir and simmer 5 minutes or until thickened. Pour over chicken and serve with white rice.
