Southern Cornbread

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups Self-Rising White Corn Meal Mix
  • 1-1/3 cups milk
  • OR 1-1/3 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • OR 1/4 cup Shortening, melted
  • 1 egg
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Grease 8-inch ovenproof skillet or 8-inch square pan; place in oven to heat.
  3. Meanwhile, beat egg in medium bowl.
  4. Add all remaining ingredients; mix well.
  5. Pour batter into hot greased skillet.
  6. Bake at 450 degrees F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
