cutout doughnuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • Powdered sugar
  1. Beat together sugar and eggs until foamy. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cream of tartar, and baking powder. Add 1/2 flour mixture and 1/2 cup milk to eggs. Stir well, but do not make dough too stiff. Roll dough out on floured surface with a rolling pin until about 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a cookie cutter, then fry in hot oil until lightly browned. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
