Beerox – a delicious misnomer!
This wonderful filled pastry of Eastern European origin was originally stuffed with ground beef, cabbage and onions. It was first shared with me by Joni McFarlin. I have made this one food item more than any other. It is convenient to eat and was a Monday night poker staple.Casserole Theory
Neither of my parents cared for casseroles. So in that sense I was a late bloomer, in my early 20’s I got obsessed with casseroles. I still love them.Coffee Pot Roast - This is a great use for the end of a bag of coffee beans!
This rub is good for a 4-5 lb. ~ 2 kilo roast. You can use half for a smaller roast and save the rest of the mixture for later. (It will most likely be sooner than later, because it tastes so good).Fried Rice
When my brother and I were children, our mother would entice us to wake for Sunday school by making fried rice in the morning. Only after a year of frequently making fried rice, I have begun to master the crispy bottom of the fried rice that my brother & I would fight over.Ground Meat Jerky
I love to bring this hiking and keep it in my truck for food emergencies. (Getting stuck in traffic can constitute a food emergency). This is especially good for people with weak teeth or those who don’t want to floss after eating jerky. It’s economical and super yum. If you do not own a dehydrator, you can dry your jerky on a cookie sheet in the oven on its lowest possible setting.Hashies! In honor of my dear friend Megan Hennessey
This is a recipe where proportions are the best guides for amounts. I love this served for breakfast with some protein. I cannot stress how superior coconut oil is for cooking especially in this application.Honeyed Garlic
One of the best things I’ve ever made. A few cloves are a great way to fight getting sick, but you will find it hard to eat only a few Delicious on crackers or as an addition to a cheese and olive plate Left over honey is a wonderful glaze for meats, tofu, or veggies when stirred A few of you will remember the year I gave jars of honeyed garlic as Christmas gifts. It took me over 3 hours to peel 5 lbs. of garlic. While it is easier to buy pre-peeled garlic, you may be able to taste the difference.Italian Wedding Soup a la Crockpot
I suggest a recipe trading night to everyone who has friends with good taste buds. My friend Jamie Poe showed me how to make this delicious simple soup. I love the crockpot for being the wife I never had. (Coming home after a hard day’s work or school is eased immensely by the smell of slow cooking.)Jason’s Amazing Kale Salad
I am so grateful that Jason Scott is in my life and shared this wonderful, wonderful salad with me.Non-nutritive Food Hacks
~Spam Masubi This is the 'gateway sushi'. It is definitely junk food. Start with a can of Spam, sliced, then fry in teriyaki sauce. Place this atop a small egg sized ball of vinegar sushi rice. Encircle with a strip of Nori paper and moisten to secure.Pulled Pork
This crockpot gem is great for a multitude of meals, from a topping on nachos , sandwiches or in a spring roll, beerox, salads or on slider rolls.Rice rolls
Nate Snyder taught Anna, Sasha, Tara and I how to make this simple food many years ago. I have tried different ingredients and sauces; I love this lettuce wrap for its’ versatility.Thank you for your interest in Wasabi Spice's cookbook and for helping support the BakeSpace community of independent cookbook authors!
