Barbequed PrawnsThis picture was taken in a restaurant in Castlesado, Sardinia while we were on holiday. I found the recipe later on the Internet which I think describes it best.
Chicken Chow MeinA favourite of mine that is so easy to prepare and cook as long as you get the oil hot enough.
Fried RiceThe stable dish to serve with sweet and sour pork and many other dishes. Fried rice with crispy bacon, chicken, fluffy eggs and a nice kick of garlic. better than take-aways and so easy to make! Why go out when you can have the best fried rice right at home, fresh and steaming hot right that tastes just like Chinese fried rice. Perfect for when you have leftover rice OR make it quick from scratch!
Authentic Chow MeinChow mein, (in Mandarin "ch'ao mien") meaning “stir-fried noodles,” originated in Northern China. While the chow mein served in takeaways and Chinese restaurants has been altered to appeal to Western tastes, Some people confuse chow mein with stir fry and add lots of veg, but chow mein is a noodle dish and should be kept very simple but tasty. This does just that . . . no more trips to the takeaway after you try this seriously authentic dish!
Indonesian SateForget bunging together some peanut butter and some soy sauce and then dipping some bits of pork in it. This authentic recipe came from a supermarket give away magazine and is the pukka thing. I don't cook this, my wife does, and let me tell you it takes two days to prepare. But it's worth it.
Slow Cooked Spare RibsIf you're in a hurry, forget this recipe - it takes four hours to cook. You might think that there are far too many ingredients for the sauce, but once tasted you will never make any of the quick versions again. Try this recipe - you'll love it as the meat just literally falls off the bone and combines with the tasty sauce.
Barbecued Prawns with Lemon, Parsley and GarlicFire up the barbie this weekend and throw on these prawns. Served with the lemon, garlic and parsley, they're sure to go down a treat.
Five-Spice Roast Chicken DrumsticksAs with anything, there are variations, even when you buy the spice mix pre-made. Ginger, nutmeg, turmeric and even orange peel can show up in your five spice powder. This baked chicken recipe is a good start if you’re just now experimenting with Chinese five spice.
Broccoli and Mushroom NoodlesThis is a combination of recipes from over the years, but the basic recipe came from my tutor at Chinese cooking evening classes back in the 1980's.
Prawn TempuraI’m a huge fan of prawn tempura. And to be honest, I don’t know anyone who isn’t. I mean, what’s not to love about light and crispy batter around tender, juicy prawns? Prawn tempura has always been one of my favourites, ever since I was a little.
Honey Balsamic Garlic MushroomsThey would also be amazing on top of chicken or even served as a side. They are a great compliment to any dish that you are making and will add an incredible flavour.

A collection of Asian recipes that I have put together since first visiting the Far East over 50 years ago, where I first got the real taste of this delicious cuisine. Most of the recipes are very easy to cook and extremely tasty.
