My recipes have a strong French influence mixed with an Australian ‘accent’. I was born in France but grew up in Australia eating snails, sea urchins and foie gras. Simple Recipes that Work is my own adaptation and experimentation with my favourite flavours and food combinations. My French parents are both fantastic cooks, so naturally my childhood revolved around traditional French dishes and desserts. My mother, from Marseille, is the queen of all things sweet and my dad, who is Pied-Noir (a name given to French people living in North Africa during French rule), describes himself as the ‘salty cook’.
