I learned a lot about food and cooking in my previous life as a restaurant manager 25 years ago before I went to nursing school. I would much rather cook for a nice dinner party at home than for a dining room full of paying customers! My husband, a medical physicist, enjoys cooking for the two of us on the weekend. During the week we keep things simple, but are fortunate to have great groceries here in Houston at Whole Foods and Central Market and great wine at Spec's. We seldom eat out, preferring to spend top dollar for the best ingredients and enjoy relaxing dinners at home. We have library of close to 200 cookbooks and 12+ years of Bon Appetit, so we rarely eat the same thing twice!
