I come from a family of great southern cooks -- my mom and grandmother are/were fantastic cooks and taught me a lot. It's only been in the last 4 or so years that I've really become interested in cooking as a hobby and not just something I have to do. My husband enjoys cooking as well. He can do anything, but "manly" cooking is what he really likes -- grilling, smoking, making jambalaya, gumbo, etc. I have two young children and they love to help out in the kitchen -- which isn't always a good thing. The dog likes to help too -- especially when raw meat is involved! It seems that everything in South Louisiana revolves around food and we have a lot of really good food here!
