Hi friends
My name is Matilda. I am originally from Arnold's Cove, Newfoundland, Canada a fishing town on the east coast of the most beautiful place God ever created. I love to bake and cook old favorites that have stood the test of time and I love trying newbie recipes. I am always up for an adventure when it comes to making things from scratch.
I have been cooking and baking since I was a little one, perched next to my grandma waiting for the bread dough to be done so she could make me some "toutons" (fried bread dough) topped off with molasses. Oh the memories. Now that I live in central PA and away from all my family and the "home favorites", I make them a lot for my hubby and daughter.

PS my daughter wants me to make a fondant cake for her 8th b-day in a couple of weeks. I have never made that adventure and would looooooooove all the advice I can get from you season vets and beginners alike. I need to know the basics like what kind of cake is best to bake, is MMF the best kind of fondant and anything else you all can help me with.
