APPLE CRISP

Why I Love This Recipe
Ingredients You'll Need
4 to 5 c. sliced tart apples
(about 4 medium)
2/3 to 3/4 c. packed brown
sugar
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. oats
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/3 c. margarine or butter,
softened
Directions
Heat oven to 374 degrees. Arrange apples in greased square 8 x
8 x 2-inch pan. Mix remaining ingredients; sprinkle over
apples. Bake until topping is golden brown and apples are
tender, about 30 minutes. Serve warm and if desired, with
cream or ice cream. Makes six servings.
Variations:
Apricot Crisp: Substitute two cans (16 ounces each)
apricot halves, drained, for the apples and use the lesser
amount of brown sugar.
Cherry Crisp: Substitute one 21 ounces cherry pie
filling for the apples and use the lesser amount of brown
sugar.
Peach Crisp: Substitute one 29 ounce can sliced peach-
es, drained, for the apples and use the lesser amount of brown
sugar.
Pineapple Crisp: Substitute two (13 1/4 ounces each)
pineapple chunks, drained, or two (20 ounces each) cans crushed
pineapple, drained, for the apples and use the lesser amount of
brown sugar.
