Angel Biscuits

Ingredients You'll Need
1 pkg. active dry yeast
2 Tblsps. warm water (110-115)
5 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 Tblsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
2 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. butter, melted
Directions
Stir yeast into warm water to soften.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and soda. Using pastry blender or two knives,cut in shortening until mixture
resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in softened yeast and buttermilk.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat or lightly roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
Cut dough with 2-1/2 inch biscuit cutter, dipping cutter in flour each time.
Place biscuits 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Brush tops with melted butter.
Bake at 400 degrees for 12-14 minutes or until biscuits are golden.
Remove to wire racks.
