Why I Love This Recipe

Aniseed milk is a traditional dutch beverage. Mum used to make it on Saturday evenings or on winterholidays. It was also used as a comfort drink, when someone of us came down with a cold or flu. I never drank it myself for I have an allergy for cow's milk, but I remember loving the smell and being jealous of my siblings when they had it. Mum did try to make it with goat's milk, but that was not acceptable for me. Luckily she agreed with me on that. Only in springtime when there was sheep's milk I could have my kind of "anysmolke"

Ingredients You'll Need

1 liter of milk
2 tablespoons of aniseed, tied in a small piece of thin cloth
40 grams of sugar

Directions

1 Bring the milk to boiling point

2 Put the aniseeds in the milk

3 Keep it on a very low fire for about 30 minutes, make sure it doesn't boil

4 Take the cloth with the seeds out and add the sugar to the milk

5 Serve hot
