Applesauce sandwiches

Why I Love This Recipe
Ingredients You'll Need
1 cup chunky style applesauce
8 slices French bread, cut from loaf
1/4 cup softened butter or margarine
1 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Directions
Slice French bread into eight 1-inch pieces.
Remove butter or margarine from refrigerator to soften.
In a small bowl, mix sugar and spices; set aside.
Heat a large, heavy skillet over medium high heat on stove.
Butter one side of each piece of bread.
Spread applesauce on four of the slices and place each, butter side down, in pan.
Top with other slice of buttered bread.
Cook for four to five minutes, flipping once, until golden brown on both sides.
Remove from pan, sprinkle cinnamon/sugar mixture over each sandwich, and cut in halves or quarters to serve.
