Why I Love This Recipe

When I was a child, our family would visit Golden, Texas, to visit my mother's relatives. Aunt Lucille and her husband owned and ran the general store. A highlight for me was to visit their house to play their pump organ! So much fun! She always had a pound cake ready to serve when guests dropped in.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 lb. unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
3 c. granulated sugar
6 large eggs at room temperature
4 c. cake flour
3/4 c. whole milk
2 t. vanilla

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Grease and flour 10 inch tube pan or bundt pan.

With an electric mixer, beat butter at medium speed for 8 minutes. (Aunt Lucille insisted on 6 minutes).

Add sugar gradually and beat until light and fluffy.

Add eggs.

Using low speed on mixer, add flour alternately with milk.

Stir in vanilla.

Pour into pan.

Bake for 1 hour 40 minutes.

Cool in pan for about 15 minutes before turning onto wire rack.
