Why I Love This Recipe

My mother's sister Aunt Sophie Bowman from Pottstown, PA.


Ingredients You'll Need

1 chicken cut up
1 onion - chopped
several carrots - cut up
several sticks of celery - cut up
1 TBL salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Pot Pie Noodles:
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbl. crisco shortening
1 beaten egg
1/4 cup water


Directions

Put cut up chicken in deep pot and cover with water.


Bring to boil.


Skim off white foam as it forms on the top of the water as chicken boils.


Add onion.


Cook 1 hr.


Add carrots and celery.


Cook 1/2 hr.


Remove chicken when done and debone.


Add chicken meat back to soup.


Rolled Noodles:


Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives. Add egg and water and mix together to make dough. Add more water if needed for rolling consistency.


Roll out on floured wax paper or cutting board.


Cut into squares.


Drop into boiling soup, cover and cook 25 min until done.
