Why I Love This Recipe

This recipe came from the TOH BB. I haven't made these yet but sure plan on trying.

Ingredients You'll Need

Baklava Cookies
1 cup butter
1/3 or more orange juice concentrate
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 cup flour
1 Cupsugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup honey
Rolling Mixtures:
1 1/2 cup chopped fine, walnut (can use pecans)
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Heat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease cookie sheet.

Use mixer and make a medium dough that will not stick to hands.

Add the 1/3 cup concentrate first then gradually add a Tbsp. more at a time if necessary.

Pinch off a clump big fist size of dough and roll out with your palms to form a big pencil shape about 1/2 inch wide.

Use knife and cut 1 1/2 inch pieces, cut on an angle (you should have a 1 1/2 inch piece of dough with irregular triangle shape.

Bake for 20 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned.

While cookies are baking, boil syrup ingredients for 5 minutes.

Let cookies cool slightly and dip in syrup (doesn't have to be hot) and roll each one in rolling mixture.

Place on wire rack to cool.

These are melt in your mouth cookies, with a traditional baklava taste
