Baked Chicken that makes Its Own Gravy

Why I Love This Recipe

Ingredients You'll Need

3-4 lbs chicken pieces
1/4 c flour
1/4 c butter
2/3 c evaporated milk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 c velveeta, cubed very small
2 Tbsp grated parmesan
salt and pepper
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
1 tsp garlic powder or 2-3 fresh minced garlic cloves
1 c onions, chopped
1-2 c sliced mushrooms (can be canned)
paprika, to sprinkle


Grease a 9 X 13. Coat the chicken lightly and evenly in flour. Melt the butter and spread evenly in bottom of baking dish. Arrange the chicken in a single layer (with skin side down if your's has it). Bake uncovered for 30 minutes. Remove the chicken from the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 325. Pour off any excess fat. Add the onions and mushrooms to the chicken baking dish. In a bowl combine the soup, evaporated milk, cheese, parmesan, salt and pepper, cayenne (if using), and garlic. Pour the mixture over the chicken and sprinkle with paprika. Continue to bake for 15-20 minutes.
