Baked Macaroni and Cheese

"Classic baked macaroni with sharp cheddar cheese."

Serves 4-6 | Prep Time 15 minutes | Cook Time 25-35 minute bake time

Why I Love This Recipe

Macaroni and cheese is comfort food at it's best. Our family enjoys this on a cold Winter day and it's an easy dish to make!

Ingredients You'll Need

12 oz. gluten free pasta such as macaroni, penne, or ziti
12 oz. package of shredded sharp cheddar cheese (more if you like)
1 1/2 c. half and half
If desired, add 12 oz. can of ham; 12 oz. package of tuna; or 12 oz. can of chicken


Boil the pasta according to package directions in salted water, but cook to al dente, because you don't want a mushy mac and cheese. Drain pasta, but do not rinse! Put half of pasta in a well buttered casserole dish, (if you are adding ham, chicken, or tuna sprinkle evenly over pasta now) top with half of shredded cheese, spreading evenly over pasta. Repeat layers. Meanwhile put cream in a glass bowl and microwave on high for 2 1/2 minutes. Pour evenly over casserole. If desired, mix 3/4 c. GF breadcrumbs with 1 T. butter and sprinkle over top before baking. Bake in an oven preheated to 375F for about 30 minutes, until top is golden. Serve immediately.

Pairs Well With

Green salad would be good.
