Bamboo and Yanang Soup (The Easy Way)

When Auntie Trish asked George what his favorite Laotian recipe was, he answered Larb and Bamboo Soup. Out of pity for Auntie Trish's limited Lao cooking skills, Julie and Mae helped her with this easy recipe to make the soup using prepared ingredients.
Ingredients You'll Need
24 oz. jar of sour bamboo and rattan shoots with chili (Pantainorasingh brand from Thailand) (Note that this has seasoning added. Adjust addition of other herbs and seasonings to taste.)
1 14 oz. can of Yanang leaf extract/juice
3 cups water
Meat of choice, optional
1 can of whole straw mushrooms
1 Tbsp. sticky rice paste?? (Soak rice for about 30 minutes; grind to a paste using mortar and pestle)
1 Lemongrass stalk (cut in pieces or ground?)
1-2 Thai chilies (if needed)
Lao sweet basil ???
