Basic Chili

Why I Love This Recipe
This is a basic chili recipe. Once you finesse it, you can start to enhance it with spices, hot sauces, various amounts of chili powders, and combinations of meat. We love to use a combination of steak, sausage, hamburger, chorizo....

Ingredients You'll Need
2 lbs lean ground beef
46 fluid oz tomato juice
29 oz can tomato sauce
15 oz cam kidney beans, drained and rinsed
15 oz can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup sweet pepper/ green pepper
1/8 tsp ground cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp white sugar (I like to use a Tbsp brown sugar)
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/4 cup chili powder
Shredded cheddar
Green onion, chopped
Directions
Brown ground beef, drain and crumble.
Combine all ingredients.
Bring to boil, then simmer for 1 1/2 hours, or If using slow cooker for 8-10 hours. Note: Letting chili simmer for a long time blends and enhances the flavors.
Top your bowl with shredded cheddar and chopped green onion, and enjoy!!
