Why I Love This Recipe

This recipe came from my mother and I have been

making it since I got married in 1957. I do not know where she got the recipe but , I remember her making it when I was about 10 years old. At one time I saw the recipe in Good Housekeeping or Better Homes and Gardens. I did not cut it out then....but it had to come from someplace! This will not keep like fruit cake, so eat it up or wrap it in a damp cloth.

Ingredients You'll Need

3 eggs, well beaten
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 lb semi-sweet chocolate pieces [Love this statement,I use chocolate bits, 6 ozs]
2 cups chopped walnuts meats
1 cup cut up dates
1 cup halved candied cherries
8 oz candied pinapple, cut in pieces

Directions

Combine eggs and sugar, beat well.

Sift dry ingredients together. Add chocolate

bits, with fruit and nuts to flour mixture.

Fold into egg mixture.

Pour into a 9x5x2 greased loaf pan, with bottom

lined with wax paper or parchment paper.

Bake 1 1/2 hours in 325 degree oven.

Serve like fruitcake.
