Why I Love This Recipe


Ingredients You'll Need

2 1/4 C. sugar
1 C. softened butter
4 eggs
3 C. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 each cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice
1 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1 C. buttermilk
2 C. fresh blackberries
Icing


Directions

Sift together flour, baking soda and baking powder and set aside.


Add spices to the sugar to prevent clumping. Cream together the sugar/spices and the butter. Add eggs and buttermilk. Add flour in flour 1/3 at a time folding in berries before you add the last 1/3. This will prevent the berries from all sinking to the bottom.


Bake at 350º Time varies according to what kind of pan(s) you use. I use a 9X13 glass baking dish and it usually takes about 45 minutes.


Ice when completely cooled
