Why I Love This Recipe

We can honestely say that the following recipe is the best Blackberry Cobbler recipe. We didn't find it in a cookbook written by a famous chef, but in the cookbook "What's Cooking in Kentucky", which is a collection of recipes shared by ladies of Eastern Kentucky.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 quart blackberries
1 cup sugar

1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup self rising flour

Directions

Boil 1 quart blackberries, 1 cup sugar and enough water to make the berries juice for 10 minutes.

Melt 1 stick of butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish in a 350ºF oven until butter is lightly browned.

Beat milk, sugar and flour hard until lumps are gone.

Pour batter into butter. Bake 5 - 10 minutes in 450ºF oven.

Then pour berry mixture over batter and bake 10 - 15 minutes longer or until cobbler is browned.

Questions, Comments & Reviews

I just made this and it is delicious!!
I didn't have any self-rising flour, so I used regular flour and added 1 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt.
The family loved it, I will definitely make this one for company!

This sounds simply delicious, I love blackberry pie or cobbler. I have in the freezer tho a bag of frozen mixed berries from Schwans that I think I will try and use in this recipe. It has blackberries, red raspberries and blueberries so I bet it will be good, just may need to be cooked a little longer, yum yum. Makes me hungry just thinking about it.
