Why I Love This Recipe

My mother-in-law makes this every Thanksgiving and it is so good! She always uses fresh blackberries from her summer garden but she says can pie filling would work! The sugar amount can be adjusted to your taste, adding more or less!

Ingredients You'll Need

For Filling:
1 quart fresh blackberries (or 2 cans blackberry pie filling)
1-1/2 water plus 1/2 cup
2 cups sugar (or to your taste)
3 Tablespoons corn starch

For Dumplings:
2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1/2 stick butter

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Mix 1-1/2 cups water and sugar and bring to a boil and stir.

Mix corn starch and 1/2 cup water in a seperate bowl until smooth and add into the boiling water and sugar mixture. Boil and when it starts to thicken add blackberries and boil 10 minutes.

In a seperate bowl mix Bisquick, 1/2 cup sugar and milk.

Place the butter in a sprayed 9x13 dish and melt in the oven. Once melted, pour Bisquick mix into the dish and then the blackberries.

Bake 1 hour.
