Serves 9 brownies | Prep Time 15 | Cook Time 30

Why I Love This Recipe

The origin of brownies is believed to be in the United States in the early 20th century, and the first printed use of the word 'brownie' to describe a dessert was in the 1897 Sears, Roebuck Catalogue.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/4 cup bourbon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.

Add the eggs, bourbon, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and stir until smooth.

Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Fold in the chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

Pairs Well With
