Why I Love This Recipe
The origin of bourbon can be traced back to the 18th century in Kentucky, making it an iconic American spirit with a rich history.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup bourbon
For the Bourbon Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup bourbon
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tbsp milk
Pinch of salt
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk and bourbon, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
For the Bourbon Frosting:
In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, bourbon, vanilla extract, milk, and salt, mixing until smooth and creamy.
Pipe or spread the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes. Enjoy!
Pairs Well With
