Why I Love This Recipe

Did you know that the first recorded use of mayonnaise as a sandwich spread dates back to the early 19th century? It was a popular condiment among the wealthy in Europe, and it eventually made its way into the humble sandwich, forever changing the way we enjoy this portable meal.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1/4 cup honey, divided
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup finely diced red onion
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley

In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, 2 tablespoons of the honey, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and black pepper until well combined.

Fold in the diced red onion and chopped parsley.

Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. If you prefer a sweeter spread, whisk in the remaining 2 tablespoons of honey.

Transfer the spread to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Use the spread to elevate your breakfast sandwiches, or as a dipping sauce for fries or chicken tenders.

Store any leftover spread in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Pairs Well With

A refreshing glass of freshly squeezed orange juice or a tangy grapefruit mimosa.
