"Soft, flaky biscuits/ scones super easy to make"

Serves Two | Prep Time 20 mins | Cook Time 17 mins

Why I Love This Recipe

A super easy and fast buttermilk scone or biscuit recipe

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup All purpose flour
1/2 cup chilled buttermilk
3 tbsp chilled butter cut into tiny pieces
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
A mixture of egg and milk for the egg/milk wash

Directions

Mix all ingredients starting with the dry ingredients first followed by the wet very gently. The chilled butter should be lightly incorporated in the dry mixture , after which the chilled buttermilk should be added and incorporated with a wooden stick/back of a spoon.
Transfer the mixture to a slightly floured even surface and start folding and patting very gently to form as many layers as possible. Do not use a rolling pin, let your hands very gently fold the dough and slightly push down evenly till the dough is about 1/2 inch thick on all sides. Cut with either a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass and place the biscuits on either a heated cast iron skillet (lightly greased with butter) or a flat baking pan (greased). Bake for 15-17 mins at 200 degree celcius. Also, for a nice brownish tint, brush some egg/milk wash on the tops of the scones before baking.

Pairs Well With

Jam, jelly, butter, chutneys
