This is a favorite recipe from my childhood church pot-lucks. One of the church "grandma's" named Winnie would make these, and I've been trying to recreate the recipe my entire adult life. This is close!
It's a great dish for pot-lucks, bbq's, or just to have with a nice salad.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 pound ground beef (or other ground meat)
1 small onion, diced
1 teaspoon minced garlic (or more if you like garlic)
½ lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
3 (16 oz) cans undrained baked beans
2 (16 oz) cans pinto beans, drain and rinse w/cold water
1 (16 oz) can northern beans, drain and rinse w/cold water
½ cup ketchup
¼ cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon table salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
Directions
Cook ground meet in skillet until done, set aside
Cook bacon, save some grease
Cook onions in remaining bacon grease until soft, translucent and add garlic, cook until just browned
In a soup or stock pan, dutch oven, or crock-pot, add in meat, crumbled bacon, onions/garlic, and the rest of the ingredients, mix well.
In a crock-pot, cook on low, or simmer on stove-top until heated through and serve, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking.
