Why I Love This Recipe

My great grandmother handed this dwn to my grandma. Bone soups are very good for health!!! But I found a few probs w/ it. But did find fixes too the problems :) She took all the meat off the bone by hand leaving just the carcass and leftover meat and fat. But carcass soup leaves alot of bone fragments so to fix it put chicken bones in metal strainer and put stainer in pan. Just pull out strainer and bones before adding veggies. The other problem was too much grease! To remove most of that just fridge the broth overnight the fat settles on the top so you can remove most of it. Don't remove all of it though. But her bone soup was probably healthier than our variations! Bone soups help cure and prevent colds and flu's. And also good to help sick animals a dropperful at a time :)

Ingredients You'll Need

1 chicken or turkey carcass hand cut meat off the bone save meat to add to soup latter. (you can save extra meat for another meal)
Canned soup stock
Chicken bullion
Handful of celery leaves
3 yellow cooking onions (Can add a handful of home grown chives in place of 1 of the onions)
Garlic 1 clove whole
Handful Peas
Handful Corn
*NOTE: My grandmother used a 1/2 bag of frozen mixed veggies in place of the peas and corn
Wide egg noodles


After straining out bones and skimming fat return broth to stove

Add celery, parsley, cilantro, onions, chives, garlic, pepper and about 1 bullion cube per 2 cups of broth

Add big hunks of your boneless skinless chicken or turkey

Bring to a boil then turn dwn to simmer for about 1-2 hrs

Taste to see if you need more bullion

Add potatoes and turnips

In a separate pan cook carrots then strain and add to broth (too many carrots added directly to broth may give it a bitter taste so pre-boiling them helps)

When pot.'s and turnips start to get softer add peas and corn (or frozen veggies)

When all veggies are done Add egg noodles about 2 handfuls but depends on amount of broth you have. Do Not Add Too Many it'll turn to a block of mush! Also to help stop noodles from getting mushy only simmer for 10 mins or less then cover and turn off heat to finish cooking and don't stir the noodles too much that'll make 'um mushy too.
