During the heat of summer, we enjoy cool meals that do not heat up the kitchen. Dinner salads are a favorite including this Chef’s salad.
Ingredients You'll Need
Lettuce of your choice, this is a good time to use a bagged salad from the grocery that has a mix of greens
Cucumber, peeled and sliced
Tomatoes, I prefer Heirloom cherry tomatoes
Avocado, peeled and sliced (optional)
Deli turkey, ham, and beef slices, cut into strips, 2-3 ea. per person (I usually just do peppered turkey and Black forest ham)
Hard cooked eggs 1 or 2 per person, halved or sliced
Bacon, cooked until crisp, 1 or 2 slices per person, crumbled
Sharp cheddar or other cheese of choice, shredded about ¼ c. per person
Green Goddess, Thousand Island, and Bleu Cheese are the usual dressings served with Chef’s Salad

Directions
Chef’s Salad is usually made in individual servings. On each plate or bowl start with the lettuce. Then arrange the toppings in rows (or however you like) over the top of the salad to display each topping. Chill until serving and serve with your choice of dressings on the side.
