"A simple traditional red chili"

Serves 4-6 | Prep Time 10 minutes | Cook Time 4-6 hours

Why I Love This Recipe

This chili was something my mom always made when I was growing up. It's easy, healthy, and tastes great! Perfect for leftovers or freezing.


Ingredients You'll Need

1 lb. of ground turkey or lean beef
1 jar Prego traditional pasta sauce
2 cans chili beans or 1 can chili beans and 1 can black beans (rinsed & drained)
1 onion (diced)
1 green pepper (diced)
1 package chili seasoning
1-2 Bay leaves (optional)


Directions

Brown ground meat and drain fat if needed.


Combine all other ingredients in a slow cooker. Cook 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low. Can also be done on the stove, simmering for 1 hour or until veggies are tender.


Stove method: Heat to bubbling, then simmer 1 hour
Instapot method: Set instapot to sear/brown to brown meat.


Pairs Well With

Serve with your favorite toppings. I like a dollop of sour cream, a dash of Chalulah hot sauce, and tortilla chips..
