Why I Love This Recipe

Family favorite from my Mother Virginia Webb. She always makes it for Parties and her Church and family get togethers.

Unique and healthy and good for young and old. A delightfully

different Dish for gatherings of family and friends.

Ingredients You'll Need

6 Cups Water
4 Cups California Walnuts (Whole NOT Chopped)
1/2 Cup Sugar (White)
Vegetable Oil
Salt (optional)
Stainless Steel or Large Bowl
Stockpot or Saucepan
Colander
Spatula
Paper Towels


Directions

One to one and half hours ahead, heat water to boiling and add Walnuts.


Return water to boiling Boil about 1 minute and then rinse under
Hot Water in Colander and drain well.


In the large Bowl with a rubber Spatula gently stir Warm Walnuts. Add sugar and blend until Sugar is dissolved.


In the same Stockpot/Saucepan heat one inch/small amount of
Vegetable Oil to bubbly or 350 degrees.


Stir Walnuts again and add 1/3 of the Walnut mixture to the Hot Oil. Fry for 5 minutes until Golden Brown stirring frequently.


Place Walnuts over Colander and drain. Sprinkle very lightly with salt and remove to paper towels.


Let them cool and they can be stored in airtight containers for several weeks .
