Why I Love This Recipe

There are several variations of this pie, considered a Kentucky classic. This is my husband's version.

Ingredients You'll Need

2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 Tablespoons bourbon
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts or pecans
1 Tablespoon flour
1 deep-dish unbaked 19" pie shell
Pinch of salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix together the eggs, sugar, flour, butter, vanilla and bourbon in a large mixing bowl.

In a separate bowl, toss the chocolate chips and nuts in flour to coat.

Add to the other mixture and stir thoroughly.

Pour into crust.

Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of pie comes out clean.

Cool for 1 hour.

Serve warm or at room temperature.

Top with whipped cream, if desired.

Questions, Comments & Reviews

Definitely will have to try this one since I have over half a bottle of bourbon left from when I made kelly's cajun grill's bourbon chicken (recipe on my blog: mysweetestday.blogspot.com). Thanks!
