Christmas Pudding

Why I Love This Recipe
A gift from Sally Berkley who passed away in 1955 at age 94.
My first adult best friend.
Ingredients You'll Need
1/4 C shortening
1 C sugar
3 C soft bread crumbs
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp mace
1/4 tsp ground clove
3 beaten eggs
3/4 C scalded milk
2 T chopped orange peel
2 T chopped lemon peel
1 1/2 C raisins
1/4 C currants
1/4 C chopped figs
1/2 C nuts, chopped coarsely
1/2 C grape juice
Directions
Cream shortening and sugar together.
Add bread crumbs, baking powder, salt and spices.
Add eggs and mix thoroughly.
Add rest of ingredients and beat thoroughly.
Fill greased pudding mold 3/4 full. Cover tightly and steam 4 hours.
Serve with orange or hard sauce. (I have both recipes if you want them.)
