Why I Love This Recipe

These cookies are not very sweet with a light orange taste and a little chocolate flavor. They have a great orange aftertaste. They are soft cookies -- not very crunchy.

After making these, I might have used coconut cream instead of the olive oil (first time baking cookies with olive oil)

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
1/2 cup (120ml) olive oil
1/4 cup (60ml) orange juice, freshly squeezed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup (85g) semisweet chocolate chips
Zest of 1 orange, divided


Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, olive oil, orange juice, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a dough forms.

Fold in the chocolate chips and half of the orange zest.

Scoop out 1 tablespoon of dough at a time and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. The centers should still be slightly soft.

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, garnish the cookies with the remaining orange zest.

Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

A refreshing glass of chilled orange-infused iced tea or a creamy orange milkshake.
