Why I Love This Recipe

Mochi has its origin in Japan and was introduced in Hawaii by Japanese immigrants. This mochi recipe we found in "Ohana Style Cooking". The word Ohana is a very important word in the Hawaiian language. Ohana means family, but it can also relate to people who are not related to you, but have a very special bond for.


Ingredients You'll Need

2 cups mochiko* (Japanese sweet rice flour)
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1 can (12 ounces) frozen coconut milk, thawed
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
Katakuriko* (Japanese potato starch)
