Cookies for Cookie Bowl

Why I Love This Recipe
This makes a great bowl for serving other cookies or candy. The recipe suggests a loaf pan but you could use any container that will take oven heat to shape the dough. And it is edible.
Aids:
loaf pan
1 1/2" cookie cutter with scalloped edges
Ingredients You'll Need
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup blanched slivered almonds, finely ground
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions
Cover the outside of a loaf pan with foil. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl combine flour, cocoa powder, almonds and salt.
In a large bowl using an electric mixer set on medium beat the butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add flour mixture; beat until a dough forms, about 2 minutes.
Shaping the Cookie Bowl:
Preheat oven to 350º. Roll dough out to 1/8" thick.
Using cookie cutter cut out cookies.
Cover the pan with cutout cookies overlapping and pressing them slightly.
Baking the Bowl:
Bake cookie bowl until edges are firm, about 15 minutes.
Transfer pan to a wire rack and cool completely.
To remove the cookie bowl, carefully lift it off the foil lined loaf pan.
Remove the foil.
Arrange other cookies or candy or whatever in the bowl.
Cover loosely with plastic wrap until ready to serve.
*you can make different shaped bowls by using oven proof containers such as round metal bowls, pyrex casserole dishes, etc.
