Why I Love This Recipe

Chocolate cake is perhaps my favourite treat of all, in fact many of my extended family members know me for my love of chocolate cake and bring me some every time they visit. This treat never fails to put a smile on my face!

Ingredients You'll Need

2 Cups White Sugar
1 3/4 Cups All Purpose Flour
3/4 Cups Cocoa Powder
1 Cup Boiling Water
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
1 Cup Milk
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Eggs
1 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda


Preheat oven to 350 F (175 C) Grease two nine inch round pans

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, baking soda, cocoa and baking powder. Add in the eggs, vanilla, milk and oil

Mix with a mixer on medium speed for two minutes. Stir in the boiling water

Pour prepared batter into pans

Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking the cake with a toothpick.

Cool in the pans for 15 minutes before placing on a wire rack
