3 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
4 cloves garlic, minced and sautéed
1/4 cup sour cream, room temperature
1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped

Peel and cube the potatoes evenly for uniform cooking.
Bring a large pot of salted water to boil over medium-high heat. Add the potatoes and cook for 15–20 minutes, until tender when pierced with a fork.
In a small pan, sauté minced garlic over low-medium heat until fragrant and golden, about 2 minutes.
Drain the potatoes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or ricer until smooth and lump-free.
Blend in the softened butter until fully incorporated, then slowly add the warmed milk, continuing to mash.
Stir in the sautéed garlic, sour cream, chopped chives, parsley, salt, and pepper.
Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. Serve warm.
