Why I Love This Recipe

My husband ate chicken cordon bleu at a dining facility during tech school for the Air Force. I'd never eaten it or made it, but I wanted to figure it out for him as a surprise before he deployed. There are so many recipes out there, so I took a little from a lot of them and "tweaked" it to make it my own. I have picky eaters, so I make 3 different kinds (the only difference in them is the cheese). This was a huge hit at my house and I get a lot of compliments when I make it. Hope you enjoy it! Oh, and thankfully my husband likes mine better than what the Air Force serves!!

Ingredients You'll Need

thin sliced boneless skinless chicken breasts
thin sliced ham steaks
cheese (I use Swiss, pepper jack or American)
1 egg
Italian style bread crumbs
salt
pepper

Directions

oven 400 degrees

beat egg for "egg wash"

season chicken breast w/salt and pepper to taste

layer chicken breast w/1 slice of cheese and 1 ham steak

roll chicken/cheese/ham and hold together w/toothpick

roll chicken/cheese/ham in egg wash

either roll in bread crumbs or sprinkle bread crumbs over chicken/cheese/ham

place on a cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees 20-30 min

ENJOY!!
