Why I Love This Recipe

I have been making this easy, delicious barbeque sauce for years now. It is sweet, yet has a little kick in it.

Per tablespoon: 25 calories; 4gm carbs; no protein; 1 g.gat; no cholesterol

Ingredients You'll Need

1 onion, finely chopped ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
4 cloves garlic, finely minced 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 cups Ketchup 1 TBL. honey
1 cup water 1 TBL. Chili powder
½ cup cider vinegar 1 TBL. Ground cumin
¼ cup canola oil 2 dashes Tabasco sauce
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Combine all of the ingredients in a heavy saucepan and bring mixture to a boil.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until sauce has thickened slightly and the flavors have blended, 10-15 minutes.

Pour the sauce through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl to remove the pieces of chopped onion and garlic.

Adjust seasonings to taste.

Use immediately or store, covered in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Use as barbeque sauce on chicken, hamburgers or favorite barbeque foods.

Makes 3 cups.
