Why I Love This Recipe
Did you know that whipped cream was once called "milk snow" in the 16th century? It was often flavored with rosewater or orange blossom water!
Ingredients You'll Need
1 cup heavy whipping cream, chilled
2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, but helps it hold)
***For Maple Whipped Cream***
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
***For Cinnamon Whipped Cream***
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Directions
In a large bowl (preferably chilled), pour in the heavy cream.
Add the powdered sugar if using.
If making maple whipped cream, drizzle in the maple syrup. For cinnamon, sprinkle in the ground cinnamon and add vanilla if you like.
Using a hand mixer or whisk, whip the cream on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. (Don’t overwhip; we want it light and fluffy!).
Serve immediately or keep it chilled until ready to dollop on your pie.
Pairs Well With
Non-alcoholic: A warm cup of apple cider. Alcoholic: A glass of spiced rum or a maple-infused old-fashioned.
