It's honest to say, it's a casserole. It sort of is. But it's also similar to Chili Pie, which uses 2 cans of chili. Not real spicy, unless you use Fritos BBQ.
Ingredients You'll Need
1 LB ground meat*
1 package taco seasoning
1 can (14 .5 ounces) roasted tomatoes, undrained
1 can 15.6/16 ounces Chili beans (Pinto beans in tomato sauce or garlic and peppers)
2 cups shredded cheese, divided
1 can (8 ounces) crescent dough (such as Pillsbury)
3 cups crushed Fritos^
Sour cream, green onions and tomatoes, if desired
*I used ground turkey.
^Not spicy, unless you get and use the BBQ ones.
Directions
1. Heat oven to 375. Spray a 13x9 pan (preferably a glass one).
2. In a 9 inch pan, cook meat over medium high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until no longer pink.; drain. Reduce heat to medium; stir in the seasoning, beans and diced tomatoes. Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until heated thru; stir in 1 1/2 cups of cheese. Remove from heat.
3. Unroll the dough, carefully ; press into the 13x9 pan. Spread the meat mixture onto the dough. Bake 20 minutes; top with remaining cheese and the chip. I suggest putting the chips then the cheese). Bake 5 to 7 minutes more, or until cheese is melted.
4. Serve.
