"Fresh strawberries, a little sugar, and juice from half a lemon make this delicious sauce."

Serves makes about 2 cups | Prep Time 10-15 minutes | Cook Time 20 minutes

Why I Love This Recipe

This fresh strawberry sauce is so much better tasting than canned toppings in the grocery store. It maintains it's fresh strawberry flavor for topping sundaes, cakes, waffles, or cheesecakes.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 lb. strawberries, hulled and thickly sliced
1/3 c. sugar
1 T. lemon juice from 1/2 a lemon

In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Mash strawberries, if you wish. Reduce heat to simmer and cook 20 minutes, until sauce is thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool to room temp. Place sauce is glass jar and refrigerate before using.

Pairs Well With

To top ice cream, waffle or pancakes, as cake filling, or on top of cheesecakes.
