Serves Makes 8 Hoagie buns | Prep Time 10-15 minutes | Cook Time 25 minutesWhy I Love This Recipe
These buns are so easy to make and are so much better than the buns we can buy at the grocery. We keep them in our freezer all the time.
Ingredients You'll Need
3 1/2 c. GGFG Baking Mix or mix or your choice
1 1/2 c. water
1/4 c. olive oil
3 T. sugar
1 t. salt
4 eggs
1 T. active dry yeast
1 T. + 1/2 t. zanthum gum
Directions
Heat water in microwave on high for 2 1/2 minutes. Place hot water in bowl of stand mixer, add olive oil and start mixer on low. Add sugar, salt, and eggs. Mix for a minute, then add yeast. Turn off mixer and add GGFG Baking Mix and zanthum gum. Stir by hand until moistened, wipe down sides of mixer bowl, and turn on low. Raise speed to medium and beat for a minute. Divide dough into 8 parts and place them on a large, parchment paper lined baking sheet. Moisten your hands and shape the dough into desired shape of bun. Smooth top and slash with a sharp knife. Bake in an oven preheated to 375F for 25 minutes until they sound hollow when tapped and are golden brown.
