Why I Love This Recipe

There was a steak house in Savannah, Georgia in the 50's that always served this with any meal and served it with hot French bread. I have tried to recreate it without their recipe. They probably went out of business years ago.

Ingredients You'll Need

8 ounces Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
4 ounces evaporated milk
1 package Kraft garlic cheese roll, softened
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions

Blend cream cheese and cheese roll thoroughly in a kitchen aid or electric blender.

Add spices and blend.

Chill and serve with French bread slices or crackers.

Questions, Comments & Reviews

Better late than never. There was a resaurant simply called the Steak House on Victory Drive between Harris' and Backus Cadillac back then. I was very young but I remember it. It burnt down in the early 60's.

No, it was not the Johnny Harris restaurant. It was about a mile from it. I knew the family that owned the restaurant, Phil Donaldson, and have eaten there many times. The barbecue is great there. Reuben Ware

Haven't made this recipe yet, but the restaurant is Johnny Harrises, and they are very much still in business and serve wonderful BBQ and fried chicken! The garlic cheese spread is still served and requested.
