A great side dish to go along with a meal.
Ingredients You'll Need
2 cups of fresh cremini or button mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
2 tablespoons of olive oil, divided
1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves, plus more for garnish
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup
Directions
Warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the mushrooms, ensuring they're spread out in an even layer. Cook undisturbed for 3 minutes or until golden on one side.
Season with salt and pepper, stir, and cook for another 5 minutes until tender.
Push mushrooms to the sides of the skillet. In the center, melt butter with the remaining olive oil.
Add minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Stir garlic into the mushrooms.
Drizzle the balsamic vinegar and honey over the mushrooms, stirring to coat evenly. Let cook for 1–2 minutes until the liquid slightly reduces.
Garnish with fresh thyme leaves and serve immediately.
Pairs Well With
Pairs wonderfully with a glass of dry white wine or a sparkling elderflower lemonade.
