Why I Love This Recipe

Did you know that green beans were first cultivated in ancient Greece and Rome? They were considered a delicacy and were often served with exotic sauces and seasonings to enhance their flavor.

Ingredients You'll Need

2 cans (14.5 oz each) French cut green beans, drained and rinsed
3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, or until fragrant.

Add the drained and rinsed canned green beans to the skillet and toss to coat with the garlic and oil.

In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and salt.

Pour the brown sugar mixture over the green beans and toss to coat evenly.

Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes, or until the green beans are heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly, stirring frequently.

Transfer the green bean medley to a serving dish and serve immediately, garnished with additional black pepper if desired.
