Why I Love This Recipe

This recipe was originally my grandmother's but I tweaked it to make a really delicious and good for you cookie.

Ingredients You'll Need

3/4 c. margarine or butter, softed (I use Earth Balance stick - no trans fats!)
1/2 c. white sugar
1/3 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2/3 c + 2T white flour
1/3 c wheat flour
1 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
1 t cinnamon
pinch nutmeg
1/2 c milk
1 t vanilla extract
1 c dried cranberries, cherries or raisins
1 c chopped walnuts
3-4 c old fashioned oatmeal

Cream margarine or butter with sugars.

Add eggs and vanilla, beat on medium speed or by hand til well blended.

Sift together flours, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; add alternately with milk.

Stir in oatmeal and fruits and nuts.

Drop by teaspoonful full onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for about 15 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen.
